A Passion for Fashion

Now that the buzz has died down about Paris Fashion Week 2013, WICE’s new Fashion courses can help fill in the gap until next year.

As one of the newest additions to the Visual Arts Instructor team, WICE is pleased to introduce Iveta Karpathyova.   Originally from Slovakia, Iveta also lived in Greece before moving to Toronto, Canada, to receive her degree in Design and Communication - Fashion Communication from Ryerson University.  In 2010 she moved to Paris, where she worked as a graphic designer for one of the top color and beauty forecasting companies, and did trend research for the bi-annual color forecast meetings.

Iveta has a diverse portfolio of work including: magazine editorials, live sketching during Paris Fashion Week, fashion-designer look books, wedding invitations, CD covers, and other graphic design projects.  Iveta is now sharing her lifelong passion for art by teaching WICE classes in Color Theory and Harmony, Fashion Illustration, and Graphic Design.

Iveta's two upcoming courses:

3 sessions:  Tuesdays, November 5th, 12th, and 19th
15h00 to 16h30

With Iveta, you will study the work of some of the most famous fashion illustrators such as Antonio Lopez, David Downton, René Gruau, Mats Gustafson, George Barbier and André Edouard Marty. Through their examples you will learn the key elements and basic techniques of fashion illustration (action line, elongation, gesture drawing, expressing clothes and accessories as main subject matter...).

Since Paris is the world's fashion capital, you will get introduced to the history of french fashion by learning about its famous revolutionary designers such as Christian Dior, Gabrielle Chanel, Yves Saint Laurent, Thierry Hermès, Louis Vuitton and Madeleine Vionnet.   The course will also explore the history of fashion illustration as a form of art, the way it was used for years in fashion magazines and also by designers.

Just in time for the holidays!  Come to Iveta's course to learn illustration techniques to create your very own greeting cards.   Using prints and patterns, you'll come up with custom designs for stationary, cards, and envelopes.   In this day and age where most people only receive ecards that were sent with only a simple click of the mouse, you can make a lasting impression on your friends and family with your beautiful artwork and personalized messages.

For these holidays, give your loved ones something special that they can display in their living room.

4 sessions:   Tuesdays, November 26th, December 3rd, 10th, and 17th
15h00 to 16h30.
